Can I start by saying how proud I am to be the new president of the Cotswold Magical Society and give a huge thank you to Bob for doing the job so well over the last two years.

I had a few years away from the club and on I rejoining I was pleasantly surprised at how well the club was doing and over the last year I have enjoyed a great program of events and I was especially impressed with the level of performance of our own members. The recent close up competition was of a very high standard.

I was glad to see so many members at our A.G.M. I think it shows how much people care about their club when they turn up to the A.G.M. these can be very poorly attended in some clubs. The idea of a children’s competition was discussed but eventually passed on but we have decided to perform at least one charity event this year with a 50/50 profit split between the charity and our selves.

We had a small shortfall in finances last year and to aid that and make sure the club moves forward it was agreed that a small increase in subs was required. We felt it was better to have a small increase now than wait and have to have a significant rise at some later date. It was also agreed that there is to be a nightly payment of £1 to go towards the cost of tea and biscuits.

One of my aims as president is to get the society more publicity and hopefully one or two more members. If anyone has any thought on this please let me know.

I look forward to my time as president and I’m looking forward to a great year of magic. We have a fantastic program in place.

If you have any ideas for the club please call or email me or just see me at the next meeting.

Just a final vote of thanks to every one who makes this club the friendliest of magic clubs.
