The Close-up Competition proved to be a brilliant night of first class entertainment. It was billed as a competition, and was, but as always on these occasions it seemed a shame that someone had to lose.
For each one of the eight competitors had something new to offer and all performed with consummate skill. Those taking part were, in no particular order, Tom Arnold, Darren Campbell, John McKeller, Nigel Hursthouse, Colin Dymond, Richard Jinks, Ian White, David Prouse.
The winner of the Close up Cup was Colin Dymond who beat Darren Campbell by a whisker, with Dave Prouse in third place.
Our thanks go to the magic judge Kerry Scorah and to the two lay judges, Liz Quiney and Steve Lyons for their deliberations and to the 10 or so visitors who made the whole evening something special.
